Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating crimes reported in the areas of operation of the Sheriff’s Office. They also assist other agencies when a crime committed in another jurisdiction requires investigative efforts in Holmes County.

Investigators follow up on reported crimes, initiate criminal investigations based on evidence or information reported, recover property, identify and preserve evidence and maintain a database of stolen property, as well as organize and maintain case files on all cases assigned to the division.

Several thousands of dollars in property recovery and other stolen assets, as well as seized narcotics and implements of crime are directly credited to investigators and the deputy sheriffs assigned. CID utilizes a host of specialized technology in conducting their investigations, including detection and surveillance equipment, as well as  crime scene processing. Investigators routinely work closely with the state attorney and medical examiner's office.

If you have a crime tip, you may remain anonymous and contact the investigation section at 850-547-4421 or send an  e-mail below.
