On Tuesday, 10-11- 2011 the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office received a call indicating that a male subject had taken a vehicle from a female by threatening her with a hammer and a box-cutter. Investigators arrived at the scene and made contact with the victim who provided a detailed description of the suspect as well as the circumstances of the carjacking. The victim advised Investigators that she picked the subject up in Ponce de Leon after he asked for a ride home. Once inside the vehicle the suspect continued to tell the victim that he lived just down the road and eventually took her car and money leaving her stranded.

During a search of the area the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen related to a suspicious vehicle traveling in north Holmes County that matched the description of the stolen car. Sheriff’s Deputies then located the suspect who had ran the car into a ditch and was trying to drive away when he was taken into custody and transported to the Holmes County Jail. The suspect was identified as Edgar Edward Heath (25) and is in the Holmes County Jail charged with carjacking and armed robbery.
